ST. PIUS X KNANAYA CATHOLIC PARISH, LOS ANGELES

    St. Pius X Knanaya Syro-Malabar Parish of Los Angeles comprising of Knanaya Catholics in Southern California.

    Mar Jacob Angadiath erected St. Pius X Mission in Los Angeles on March 17, 2002 and appointed Fr. Abraham Mutholath as its first Mission Director. The mission includes two convents. Visitation Convent in Inglewood with four sisters was established on July 22, 2000. In February 5, 2009 they moved to their new Convent House in Downey. St. Joseph's Convent was established in West Covina with five sisters on May 31, 2002. When Fr. Abraham Mutholath moved to Chicago in February 2003, Fr. Baby Kattiyangal took care of the mission. Mar Jacob Angadiath appointed Fr. Thomas Animmoottil as the director of the mission on October 29, 2003. Rev. Fr. Thomas Mulavanal was appointed as the mission director with effect from August 25, 2005. Feast of St. Pius X, the patron saint of the mission, is fixed on August 21 and continue to celebrate it in the mission since 2006. For the geographical convenience of the families, Sunday masses are celebrated in two centers: San Fernando Valley and Artesia.

    This mission has 80 catholic families.
