FAMILY COMMISSION KNANAYA CATHOLIC REGION WHAT IS FAMILY COMMISSION? Family Commission of the Knanaya Catholic Region is intended to organize pre-marriage courses, post-marriage courses, seminars, events, and couple retreats in regional, zonal, or parish levels to strengthen the family life and take preventive measures against possible family issues in the future. WHY WE NEED A FAMILY COMMISSION? Pre-marriage course is a requirement before wedding. So we have to offer that for the young people who are preparing for marriage. Post-marriage course is needed because of the increasing number of conflicts and separation among young couples. Families face issues of raising children and conflict among couples because of that. Parents face problems when children become teenagers. A healthy guidance and sharing is essential during this period. FUNCTIONS OF FAMILY COMMISSION Organize pre-marriage and post-marriage courses in regional and zonal level. Help parishes and missions to organize couple’s seminars and family events. Organize family retreats in local, zonal, or regional level. MISSION STATEMENT Family commission is committed to develop healthy families by offering pre-marriage, post-marriage, courses, couples seminars, family retreats and other family events in local, zonal, and regional levels. GOALS Focus on preventive approach in family issues by organizing various awareness programs for couples. Promote as many family events as possible in missions and parishes. ACTION PLAN Reconstitute family commission with more involvement of resource persons from different zones. Organize pre-marriage, post-marriage, courses in the zonal level. Facilitate couples seminars and seminars on dealing with children and youth in parish or mission level. COST PLAN The programs of the commission shall be self financing by collecting registration fee to meet the expenses of the resource team and resource materials. EXPECTED OUTCOME More young people of our community participating in our own pre-marriage courses. Better families because of the post-marriage courses and couple seminars. Better relationships between parents and children as a result of family events and seminars. |
