COMMISSIONS OF THE REGION FAMILY Family Commission is committed to organize Marriage Preparation Courses, Post Marriage Courses, and awareness programs addressing family issues in the parish (mission), zonal, and regional level. Commission Members are Tonny Pullappally (Coordinator), Marykutty Chemmachel, Benny Kanjirappara, Jaya Kulangara, Ajimol Puthenpura, Molamma Thottichira KOODARA YOGAM Koodara Yogam is the neighborhood prayer meetings in parishes (missions). Based on the concept of Basic Christian Communities, the goal is to have tent gathering once a month under the leadership or priests and sisters for prayer, discussions on pastoral issues, and for Agape Meal. The commission members to promote Koodara Yogams in the regional level are: Paulson Kulangara - Chicago (Coordinator), Jimmy Kavil – Tampa, Jomon Manthuruthil - Detroit LAY MINISTRY Knanaya Catholic Ministry (KCM) is the official lay association of Knanaya Catholic Missions and Parishes in the Knanaya Catholic Region of the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago. In order to give equal opportunity for men and women in the parish and region activities, Knanaya Catholic Ministry will consist of Men Ministry and Women Ministry with various roles and activities. Mission Statement: Knanaya Catholic Ministry that consists of Men Ministry and Women Ministry of parishes (missions) in the Knanaya Catholic Region will be a supporting service wing of the parish (mission) committed to organize programs that benefit the functions and development of the parish (mission) and that are beneficial to the members of the ministry and all others. Commission Members: Bijo Karakattu – San Antonio (Coordinator), Saju Kannapally – Chicago, Gracy Vachachira - Chicago NEWSLETTER Region Newsletter is the official weekly of the Knanaya Catholic Region of the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago published as an electronic edition via e-mails and website. The language shall be English and Malayalam. It shall convey items like the news of missions, parishes and regions, featured articles, photo features, special columns, interviews, educational articles on church, liturgy, spirituality family life, Knanaya Community, advertisements, obituaries, matrimonial advertisements, death anniversaries, and death announcements. Commission Members are: Saju Kannapally – Chicago (Coordinator, News gathering & Distribution), Bijo Karakattu – San Antonio (Editing, Feature & Layout), George Thottapuram - Chicago (Editor & Advertisement), Joyson Pazayampally – Tampa (Editor & Advertisement), Lince Thannichuvattil – Chicago (Editing & Typesetting), Saji Poothurkayil (Editing & Proof Reading), Anil Mattathikunnel (Graphics & Layout) RELIGIOUS EDUCATION All Knanaya Catholic Missions and Parishes are expected to offer Religious Education Classes for children, teenagers and youth. It is encouraged to have Theology Classes for the adults. Commission for Religious Education is committed to support and coordinate the Religious Education Schools of all the missions are parishes of the region. It shall also support and coordinate teachers training programs and assure uniformity and quality of the program in the regional level. Commission Members are Johny Thekkeparambil - Chicago (Coordinator), Joseph Elakodikkal – Dallas, Joyson Pazayampally - Tampa VOCATION Considering the growth and future of the Knanaya Catholic Region, we need to promote vocations to priesthood and religious life. The Vocation Commission is committed to organize various vocation promotion programs in the parish (mission), zonal, and regional level. This commission will also give proper importance for vocation to lay ministry. Commission members are Jojo Perumanathettu - Chicago (Coordinator), Jo Moolakatt - Detroit YOUTH MINISTRY Youth ministry is committed to organize retreats, seminars, Theology Courses and other pastoral programs for the faith formation of young people in the parish (mission), zonal, and regional level Commission members are Fr.
